Don't leave your most important information wide open to thieves!
According to experts with the Federal Trade Commission, the FDIC and
OnGuardOnline.gov, not only should you install a firewall program on
your computer to help protect you from identity theft, you should also
have an antivirus and antispyware program installed. All of these
utilities should have their respective definitions and libraries
updated on a regular basis to battle the constantly evolving threats
that exist on today's worldwide web.
One major news source reported that every 79 seconds a thief hacks into
a computer, steals a victim's identity, and goes on a shopping
spree. A quarter of U.S. households have become victims of some form of
identity theft.
Installation of the firewall program on your PC will help, but you
should
also consider combining antivirus and anti-spyware programs as
suggested. Remember not to let your guard down telling yourself it's
not important to keep your updates current. Putting off renewal of your
subscriptions can be just as dangerous as not having any software at
all. New malicious
programs are being written every day and this is the best way to keep
up with them. These thieves don't need much of an opportunity to ruin
your credit, your reputation, maybe your life. Don't sit back and let
it happen to you.
