How To Upgrade or Add Computer Memory
Adding or upgrading computer memory is probably the easiest physical upgrade a person can make to a pc.
One of the main reasons is because new computers are already setup for the addition of memory.
You will not normally see a new computer with all of the memory slots already filled.
Another reason is because you don't really need to know much about computers to upgrade or add memory to one.
Probably the most difficult part of upgrading computer memory is selecting the right memory for it.
There are different configurations of the slots for different types of memory and if you don't buy the right one, it may not fit or may not be recognized.
Once you've got the right memory, installation is a snap. Really!
Make sure the computer is off and it is unplugged.
Remove the screws on the back of the computer that will allow you to remove the left side cover.
Find the location of the memory that is already in the computer.
Insert the new memory in one of the empty slots next to the existing memory making sure the indentations of the memory match correctly.
Push it in so that the clips on each end snap in toward the memory.
Replace the cover, plug it back in and turn it on.
