"Unremember" - How To Reset Passwords

I don't know how this may have happened, but some of my remembered passwords are not letting me log in to my accounts.

What I mean here is that some of the passwords I had checked "Remember Password" have somehow become corrupted or incorrect.

When I call about these particular accounts, I am being told that I need to reset my passwords.

If you have encountered this type of problem, you may not understand what it is that you are being told. Here is what it means.

There is a place on your computer where this information is stored so you don't have to type in your user name and password every time you log in to certain accounts. Your email is a prime example of this. Rather than entering this information every time you want to get your email, you check a box that says "Remember Password" and when you open up your email program, you are automatically logged in.

This can be pretty handy and it saves you the hassle of having to enter the username and password every time, but unfortunately, it also causes this personal information to be stored on your computer. Somehow, this information may have become corrupted or changed. This information needs to be cleared in order for you to be able to try entering your password.

It is important to understand that anything you can save on a computer, can be found by a hacker. This is true of files, account numbers, user names, passwords, and most importantly, credit card numbers.

Computers without current antivirus, antispyware or firewall software installed on them are the highest risk for this type of security breach. If you like having your computer remember your information for you, you should invest in security software and maintain a subscription to keep the definitions current.
