Should I Run Or Save Downloads?
Microsoft suggests that by saving the file to your hard drive you can scan it with your antivirus software to check for malicious software programs.
Larger programs may not even 'Run' correctly over the internet, but they will most likely run OK from a saved location on the hard drive.
When you are prompted to 'Run' or 'Save' the download, select 'Save'.
Save the file to a familiar location (My Documents, Etc.)
If, by some chance, you have trouble installing (running) the software, you won't have to download it again.
Simply go back to the folder where you saved it, and double-click the saved .exe file to install the program again.
While nothing is perfect in the computer world, saving the file or program to your computer hard disk makes the most sense in most situations.
It is always a good idea to back up your personal files and important data regularly using a backup program and keep your antivirus software and virus definition up-to-date.
