Spam is unsolicited mail, or junk mail that you receive on your computer through the internet. If you have email, you have received spam. These messages are sent out in mass to as many addresses as the sender can get their hands on. They will solicit anything from "prescription drugs" to schemes of "getting rich". Some of the more recent spam contains the latest "stock tips". Most spam email will come with a link to remove yourself from the list. Don't respond to these. Most of them will bounce, and the ones that don't, will only confirm that your address is active (hence, more spam).

How much of a bother and waste of time and resources is spam?
There certainly must be more spam circulated on the internet than there
is legitimate e-mail. Everybody hates it.
Probably even the idiots who create it, hate it.
They must think it's the best way to peddle their
garbage to people that obviously aren't interested.
Sources indicate that from April through June 2007, around 90% of corporate mail received was spam.
In June, the spam numbers exceeded 90%, among the highest of the year to date.
April and May spam percentages were at 90%
