Is Your Internet Connection Too Slow ?
In many cases, what is thought to be slow internet service or a poor connection, is really something else.
The frustration of getting on the internet and not going anywhere can sometimes be due to a poor internet connection, but then again, sometimes the problem isn't your internet connection at all.
Your internet service provider is in business to do just that... provide you with internet service.
It is in their best interest to keep their equipment maintained and provide you with quality, uninterupted service, and keep you as a customer. Not only will they retain your business, they may get new customers by referrals, such as yours.
Before you call them up to complain, or leave them, try running some computer maintenance utilities to resolve the problem.
The more time you spend on your computer, the more you should do to maintain it.
Spyware and Adware can be major culprits that contribute to poor computer performance. If you use a free manual spyware remover, it will not prevent these programs from loading onto you computer, and you have to run it yourself to remove them.
High Speed Internet Connection
If your computer is connected to the internet by a network or cable modem, Windows may be able to fix your slow connection.
Click your Start button.
Open The Control Panel.
Open Network Connections.
Double-click your active connection.
Click the Support Tab.
Click Repair Button.
If that doesn't help, try:
Click the General Tab.
Click Disable Button.
After you have been disconnected . . .
Double-click on the connection to make it active again
If you don't notice an improvement, or only a slight difference, you may have other problems.
Do you save E-mails?
Go through and get rid of anything you don't need.
This excess data can also hinder your computer performance.
Remember to delete your deleted items too.
Dump this excess baggage to help free up space.
Those cute jokes and videos can take up large amounts of your hard drive.
If you want to keep them, put them on a disk before you delete them.
The same goes for music downloads and especially movies.
Put your favorite songs on CD's, movies on DVD's, and get them off your hard drive.
If you don't know how to convert and burn CD's or DVD's, check into a USB flash drive.
Storing files to these devices, is as simple as drag and drop.
